GBV is one of the most widespread, persistent, and devastating human rights violations in our world today and remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma, and shame surrounding it.
Taking part in the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign. A group of activists founded it at the inauguration of the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991. The Center for Women’s Global Leadership continues to coordinate this event every year. Individuals and organizations around the world use it as an organizing strategy to prevent and eliminate violence against women.
